Welcome to Connesena Creek Cattery. Proud Breeders of the

Highlander Cat

 and the

Bengal Cat

.

Nestled in the North Georgia woods, Connesena Creek Cattery is a small in home cattery that is the home to two beautiful, exotic cat breeds, including the Highlander and the Bengal cats.

All of our cats and kittens live in our home and are given lots of love and attention every day. This makes our cats exceptionally sociable, affectionate and lovable.

Our kittens are all sent to their new homes and families with a contract and health guarantee as well as age appropriate vaccinations and a health certificate form a certified vet.

Both of these extraordinary breeds make wonderful pets and that will give their humans lots of love, companionship and entertainment.

Connesena Creek Cattery is a registered member of TICA.

ABOUT THE HIGHLANDER:

The Highlander is a breed with a great personality; loving, playful and full of joyful antics. They are extremely affectionate and intelligent and love to be held. These gorgeous cats love to be the center of attention and will openly and affectionately greet all visitors. Although the Highlander’s look is one mimicking power and grace of the big cat, these cats are fun-loving and good-natured cats that constantly entertain their humans with playful antics that make them the center of attention.

The Highlander breed first began development in 2004 with its roots tracing back to the Highland Lynx. Although the original name of the Highlander breed included “lynx” as part of its description, these domestic cats were not of any lynx descent. The Highlander standard is set to develop a domestic cat with a “Big Cat” look.

In late 2005 the breeders and breed group took the name Highlander to further identify these cats as a breed of their own merit. With this new name, the Highlander breeders and breed group continue to work towards perfecting the breed and progressing the breed’s status within the major cat registries including TICA.

Foundation cats for this breed were carefully picked for qualities important to the development of the Highlander’s “big cat” look, allowing for domestic short hair and domestic long hair outcrosses when needed. The Highlanders have never used any other recognized breed as an outcross during their development.

The unique look of the Highlander includes a very distinct facial look and loosely curled ears and bobbed tail. Some variations of the breed include polydactyl feet, but this is a non-standard feature, and while it may be desired by many potential new families in their pets, it is not a feature that is acceptable for the show standard.

As a member of the Highlander breeding program we continue to selectively breed our cats to help protect and advance this unique look and to continue to keep this new cat breed different and pure from other breeds.

ABOUT THE BENGAL:

The Bengal breed is currently one of the most popular of the purebreds today. This exotic looking cat is extremely intelligent and full of energy.

The most defining trait of this gorgeous breed is its notable leopard like spots and exotic wild looking face. Additional variations of this breed include Snows, which resembles a faded spotted or marbled look on a light creamy colored background, or a highly marble patterned coat. A more recent color addition which is increasing in popularity is the silver variation of the spotted and marbled patterns.

The personality of the Bengal cat is unlike any breed out there. These unique cats are often referred to as “dogs in cats’ clothing”. These cats are very intelligent and show many dog like personality traits. They can be trained to walk on leashes and have been known to play fetch with their humans. Also, they are one of the few breeds that enjoy water and will often play in their water bowl or join their human in their bath tub.

The Bengal is an energetic and active cat. They will play for hours, tirelessly entertaining their humans. These cats also like to be the center of attention and are bold and open in their actions.
